Educational services extend for six weeks during the summer to provide
year-round comprehensive instruction and minimize student regression.
A summer program is offered for itinerant services
and, in both the Kingston and Ellenville, for eligible preschool and school
age children. Students' Individual Education Plans must establish the
need for the summer programs to maintain mastered materials and continue
educational instruction. Typically functioning students also attend Kingston
summer classes and provide peer role models and friendship opportunities.

Referrals are accepted from school districts for school age children
and from school districts, county of residence, other professionals and
parents for preschool age children. Decisions about a candidate's suitability
for Children's Annex programs are made by The Children's Annex admissions
team after receipt of educational and medical records, the review of current
evaluative information, interviews with families, and
observations of the child in a school or home setting.

All Children's Annex special education
programs are free of charge to families of qualified students. Children
who are preschool age are funded through the county of residence following
a committee approval process. School age children must be approved by their
local school district Committee on Special Education which is responsible
for payment. Direct door-to-door transportation is provided at no cost as
part of the funding for center-based special education programs. Parents
of preschool age children may also receive mileage reimbursement if they
choose to transport their child. Tuition assistance to The Community Circle
of Friends Childcare Center is available to qualified families through The
Office of Children and Families. If not eligible for this assistance, parents
are responsible for their child's childcare tuition payments. |
